TRAINING GUIDE

Grip strength training basics.

Good grip training is simple: train hard, recover, and retest with the same setup.

Train more than one grip pattern

Dead hangs and carries build support grip. Grippers and towel holds emphasize crushing grip. Pinches and plate holds train the thumb side of the hand. A balanced plan usually uses more than one pattern.

Progress slowly

Hands and elbows can get irritated when volume jumps too quickly. Add load, time or sets gradually, then retest your dynamometer number after a few weeks instead of chasing a new max every session.

Use the calculator as a benchmark

A higher kilogram reading is useful, but the percentile shows how that number compares with adults of the same age and sex.

Check your baseline

Start with a measured grip number.
