BUYING GUIDE

Choose a grip tester that makes repeat testing easy.

The goal is not the fanciest device. It is a repeatable measurement you can reproduce under the same conditions.

What matters most

Measurement range

Make sure the device has enough capacity for your expected grip strength. Strong athletes should leave meaningful headroom above their current best.

Adjustable handle

Handle geometry affects leverage and therefore the reading. An adjustable handle makes it easier to use a consistent setup.

Repeatability

For tracking, a device that gives similar readings under identical conditions is more useful than one loaded with unnecessary features.

Do not compare devices casually

Two dynamometers can disagree. If you change devices, treat the new reading as a new baseline rather than assuming every kilogram of difference is a strength change.
